US death metal veterans GORGATRON have signed with Time To Kill Records for the release of their fifth full-length album, "Turmoil", due out in the coming months.
A band that has never been particularly interested in rushing its creative process, GORGATRON have always taken their time to consider their next moves and make sure every return is worth the wait. That patience is reflected in a death metal approach that refuses to settle comfortably within any specific current or subgenre. The Fargo, North Dakota outfit instead builds its identity around the riff, allowing the guitars to dictate the direction of each composition and providing a natural point of contact with bands such as Suffocation, Origin and Hate Eternal.
Yet those comparisons only tell part of the story. GORGATRON have developed a distinctly personal way of arranging their material, paying close attention to dynamics and introducing melodic ideas without ever allowing them to overshadow the sheer weight and severity of the music. Their songs can move from intricate guitar work to blunt, punishing passages without losing their sense of direction, creating a sound that feels both carefully constructed and fundamentally physical.
At its core, this remains uncompromising American death metal: sharp-edged, disciplined and built on the enduring power of the riff. Two decades of experience have only sharpened the band's understanding of how to make that formula work, while "Turmoil" promises to push their established language into another chapter.
More details about the album, including the first single, will be revealed soon.
Formed around 2006 in Fargo, North Dakota, GORGATRON released their debut full-length "Torturetorium" independently in 2010, followed by "Inner Supremacy" in 2015. The band expanded its reach considerably with 2020's "Pathogenic Automation", released through Nuclear Blast/BloodBlast Distribution, and the "Agony Reborn" EP in 2022, supporting the latter with a tour spanning 18 countries. In 2024, "Sentience Revoked" arrived through Redefining Darkness Records, followed by extensive touring across the US and Canada and an appearance in Iceland.
With a renewed lineup featuring Billy Zahn on lead guitar, Henri Jourdan on rhythm guitar and Colin Richardson on vocals alongside longtime members Cameron Dewald and Matt Johnson, GORGATRON have further refined the precision, intensity and riff-driven foundation that has defined the band for nearly two decades. Years of relentless touring across North America, Europe, the UK and Mexico have established the group as a seasoned live force, sharing stages with acts including Anthrax, Testament, Carcass, The Black Dahlia Murder, Origin, Defeated Sanity, Malevolent Creation, Misery Index, Goatwhore, Jungle Rot, Beyond Creation and many more.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Gorgatron is an American death metal band from Fargo, North Dakota, formed in the mid-2000s. The band developed its sound around a riff-driven combination of old-school death metal, grindcore and thrash metal, mixing aggressive riffing with rapid blast beats and a generally relentless approach. Their style draws inspiration from bands such as Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, Necrophagist and Origin.
After going through several early lineup changes and recording demo material, Gorgatron independently released their debut full-length Torturetorium in 2010. The album established the band's uncompromising death metal style, but further personnel changes followed before work began on its successor.
The second album, Inner Supremacy, arrived several years later and continued to develop Gorgatron's combination of old-school brutality, technical riffing and grind-influenced aggression. During this period the band increasingly established itself as a live act, undertaking DIY tours throughout the United States and appearing at various metal festivals.
A significant step forward came with the third full-length, Pathogenic Automation, released in 2020 through Blood Blast Distribution. The album brought Gorgatron considerably wider exposure and showcased a more refined and technically aggressive version of their sound. The band subsequently intensified its touring activity, performing extensively throughout the American Midwest and beyond.
Gorgatron followed the album with the Agony Reborn EP in 2022. The release maintained the band's high-speed and riff-heavy death metal attack and was followed by extensive touring, including performances across 18 countries.
In 2024 Gorgatron returned with their fourth full-length album, Sentience Revoked. The record further emphasized the band's mixture of old-school death metal brutality and technical precision, while retaining the grindcore and thrash elements that have characterized their music since their early years. The album also featured a guest guitar solo by former Nile guitarist Dallas Toler-Wade on the track “Unaligned.”
Gorgatron released Live From the Basement in 2025, documenting the band's material in a live setting. After nearly two decades of activity, the Fargo outfit remains an active representative of the American underground death metal scene, built around crushing riffs, blast beats and an uncompromising approach to extreme metal.
