German blackened death-doom band GREH release a new single titled "Summoning Aversion".
With 'Summoning Aversion,' we give you a first glimpse into our upcoming album, 'The Tyranny of Expectations' (Release: Early 2027), on which we are currently working. This time we’ve moved away from the doom influences, replacing them with black metal and atmospheric drones.
The song is about the unleashing of malicious, repressed emotions and their psychosomatic effects. Bottled-up anger, disappointment, and accumulated mistrust result in a deep, supposedly protective aversion to others and the world, which ultimately turns against one’s own body and mind until one can only despise oneself.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

GREH is a German extreme metal band from Karlsruhe, formed in 2022 by guitarist Gjero Krsteski. Initially conceived as a one-man project following Krsteski’s departure from Hellgreaser, the project quickly evolved into a full band in 2023, with the addition of drummer Maurice Müller and vocalist Martin Kocula.
Musically, GREH blends elements of black metal, death metal, sludge, and doom into a crushing and emotionally intense sound often described as blackened death-doom. Their approach is notably minimalistic—typically featuring a single guitar—yet highly atmospheric and oppressive, combining groove, dissonance, and raw heaviness.
The band’s themes revolve around human suffering, inner conflict, and existential darkness. Even the name “Greh,” meaning “sin” in several Slavic languages, reflects their focus on personal struggle and the darker aspects of human nature.
After releasing the EP Reversion of the Repressed in 2023, GREH began gaining attention within the European underground scene through live performances and support slots for acts such as Fit for an Autopsy and Morast. Their debut full-length album, Dysphoric Devotion, was released on January 15, 2025, further establishing their reputation for delivering a bleak, heavy, and emotionally charged form of extreme metal.
