Hell-Born is a black/death/thrash metal band from Sopot, Poland, formed in 1996 by Adam “Baal Ravenlock” Muraszko and Leszek “Les” Dziegielewski. Both musicians were already well established within the Polish extreme metal underground: Baal Ravenlock had been a member of Behemoth, while Les was involved with Damnation and had also played with Behemoth. Hell-Born initially began as a side project but eventually developed into a permanent band.

The band's first recording was the self-titled Hell-Born EP, recorded at Warrior Studio in Toruń during 1996 and released through Pagan Records. At this stage the group consisted essentially of Baal Ravenlock on drums and vocals and Les handling guitars and bass, with Nergal of Behemoth contributing additional vocals to one track. Musically, the project drew heavily from the raw and aggressive spirit of 1980s extreme metal, with influences including Possessed, Venom, Morbid Angel, Destruction and Kreator.

After the EP, Hell-Born became inactive for several years. Baal and Les resurrected the band around 2000, this time joined by their former Damnation associate Jacek “Jeff” Kubiak. The renewed lineup entered Hertz Studio in Białystok and recorded material that resulted in the band's first full-length album, Hellblast, released by Pagan Records in 2001.

Hell-Born quickly followed it with The Call of Megiddo in 2002 and Legacy of the Nephilim in 2003. Their music established a characteristic mixture of old-school death metal, black metal and thrash, with a particularly strong connection to the darker and more primitive sound of the late 1980s and early 1990s rather than the increasingly polished approach of some contemporary extreme-metal bands.

The fourth album, Cursed Infernal Steel, arrived in 2006, followed by Darkness in 2008. After this period Hell-Born entered a lengthy recording hiatus. Although the band remained part of the Polish underground, more than a decade would pass before another full-length appeared.

Signs of renewed activity appeared with the 2019 split release Hellbound Hearts with fellow Polish band Offence. The recording featured Baal Ravenlock on bass and vocals, Les on guitar and backing vocals and Diabolizer on drums.

Hell-Born finally returned with their sixth full-length, Natas Liah, in 2021. Recorded at Creme de la Creme Studio in 2020, the album featured Baal Ravenlock, Les and Diabolizer, with several guests. Most notably, former Behemoth colleague Nergal contributed vocals to the track “Blakk Metal”, reconnecting Hell-Born with the musicians' early history in the Polish extreme-metal scene.

The band subsequently expanded with guitarist Piotr “Rambo” Szymański, formerly of Bloodthirst, joining in 2021. The current lineup consists of Baal Ravenlock on bass and lead vocals, Les on guitars and backing vocals, Diabolizer on drums and Rambo on guitars.

In 2026 Hell-Born completed their seventh full-length album, appropriately titled VII. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Crème de la Crème Studios in Tczew, the album contains seven tracks and is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026 through Deformeathing Production. The initial CD edition is limited to 500 copies and comes as a 12-panel digipak shaped like an inverted cross.

More than three decades after their formation, Hell-Born remain active representatives of the Polish extreme-metal underground, retaining the blackened death/thrash foundation and old-school approach that have characterized the band since its beginnings.
