With this cover, Karma Zero tries to display his own version with hints to his metalcore and deathcore style, rather than to copy the original version with just a different production and specific vocals.
The five-piece respects of course Korn's original song, yet reappropriates it musicwise and rhythmwise to create a « new » Karma Zero track. Served by the instrumental skills of the five members, the originality and boldness of this cult song cover let us see the growing maturity of the band on this sophomore album "Monsters" released in April 12th, 2017!
ABOUT THE MUSIC VIDEO: "BLIND" (KORN COVER)
Lyrics :
Original words by Jonathan Davis on « Blind » depict his global malaise and his helplessness feeling towards it and his fear of the outside world. That matches perfectly with the whole concept of Karma Zero's latest album, « MONSTERS ». Actually, the band draws a parallel between old monster movies from the 50's and our everyday life. The movies creatures are always rejected due to their difference and the misunderstanding of « regular » people. This feeling is also shared by the one whose style walks away from the norm, sometimes leading to a mutual understanding denial. Modern monsters, in other words. The original Korn track matches ideally with the band's words when giving the point of view of an « everyday monster ».
Music :
After the intro - that became cult over the years – with both guitars « speaking » together, drums get angry and set the tone for this cover, handled in a more straight forward and punchy way than the original version. After the world famous « Are You Ready ? », main riff starts with efficient guitars that sound more rock and catchy than on Korn's verse.
