Following the ferocious declaration of intent laid down by 2025's "Demo MMXXV", Milan-based musician Gabriele Gramaglia offers the first full-length manifestation of LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT, "In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night". Known for his work with Cosmic Putrefaction, Vertebra Atlantis and numerous other entities operating within the more adventurous reaches of extreme metal, Gramaglia established LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT as an outlet for a more ravenous and instinctive strain of Death Metal; one driven by brute momentum, frenzied aggression and an uncompromising rawness. On "In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night" that initial impulse erupts into a considerably more formidable and fully developed beast.
While retaining the layered, multifaceted songwriting characteristic of Gramaglia's broader body of work, LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT directs that complexity toward outright pandemonium. Gritty, abrasive guitars churn through pummeling and intricate rhythmic contortions as tortured vocals howl from within the tumult and cascades of shrieking lead guitar slash across the album's fractured landscape. Yet beneath its seemingly unrestrained violence lies a meticulously engineered attack: riffs twist and collide at excessive velocity, tempos lurch between hammering force and sudden acceleration, and flashes of classic Heavy and Speed Metal emerge through the wreckage before being swallowed by the surrounding maelstrom.
"In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night" thrives upon this collision of precision and savagery, harnessing technical ability as another weapon in an arsenal built for maximum destructive force. LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT channels the restless imagination behind Gramaglia's other work into something noticeably more feral and antagonistic; a sustained barrage of serrated riffing, relentless battery and deranged metallic energy. "In The Wide Vale Of Uncreated Night" tears open the gates on LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT's first full-length campaign with a frenzied Death Metal assault built to leave nothing standing in its wake.

Lugubrious Garment is an Italian black/death metal and grindcore project from Milan, Lombardy, founded in 2025 by multi-instrumentalist Gabriele Gramaglia, operating here under the initials GG. Known for his involvement in a number of adventurous extreme metal projects including Cosmic Putrefaction, Vertebra Atlantis, Turris Eburnea, Hadit, Summit and The Clearing Path, Gramaglia created Lugubrious Garment as an outlet for a more direct, primitive and violently aggressive side of his musical vision.
The project was conceived during the spring of 2025, when Gramaglia felt the urge to strip away some of the more elaborate and progressive characteristics associated with his other work and return to something more instinctive and immediate. Early inspiration came from the hostile and uncompromising approach of bands such as Black Curse and Teitanblood, although Lugubrious Garment quickly developed beyond those initial reference points. The resulting sound combines ferocious death metal with the raw intensity of black metal, grindcore and speed metal, while retaining the unpredictable and atmospheric qualities characteristic of Gramaglia's songwriting.
Lugubrious Garment made its first appearance with Demo MMXXV in October 2025. Released through Nuclear Winter Records, the three-track recording introduced the project through a dense and abrasive mixture of frantic riffing, harsh vocals and relentless rhythmic violence. Gramaglia handled guitars, bass and vocals as well as the recording, mixing and mastering at Crepuscular Sound Studio, while Claudio Invidia contributed drums. Despite its deliberately primitive and aggressive foundations, the demo already displayed a considerable amount of variation beneath its chaotic exterior, establishing Lugubrious Garment as more than simply another side project.
Following the demo, Gramaglia continued developing the project with the intention of expanding its musical vocabulary without sacrificing its original brutality. Material for the debut full-length was written and recorded between the autumn of 2025 and spring of 2026, again at Crepuscular Sound Studio. During this period the music began incorporating additional elements of black/thrash and traditional heavy metal alongside the project's established death metal, black metal and grindcore foundations.
The resulting debut album, In the Wide Vale of Uncreated Night, is scheduled for release on October 16, 2026 through 20 Buck Spin. The seven-track album was written, recorded, mixed and mastered by Gramaglia, who performs guitars, bass, vocals, synthesizers and sound design. Claudio Invidia once again provides drums, while the recording also features additional contributions from Yr-nhhngr on vocals, Giorgio Trombino on lead guitar and Andrea Morgan on violin and viola. The album artwork was created by Mariya Popyk.
With Lugubrious Garment, Gramaglia has established a project intended to stand on its own rather than function merely as a temporary diversion from his numerous other musical activities. Rooted in the most savage corners of death and black metal but increasingly open to broader influences, Lugubrious Garment represents a deliberately visceral and unrestrained expression of his songwriting – balancing primitive extremity, oppressive atmosphere and an underlying sense of experimentation.
