Mangled Carpenter is set to return with their new EP Between Blood And Silence, the follow-up to their 2023 release Salvation Syndrome. The upcoming project finds the band expanding their established deathgrind foundation with a darker, more atmospheric approach that also leans into mechanical textures and slower, groove-driven moments.
The EP opens with its title track, 'Between Blood and Silence', immediately introducing a heavier, more deliberate tone, infusing new deathcore elements that show up throughout the release. Songs like 'The Absence Of Light' and 'Carved' show different sides of the band's evolving sound, with the former delivering a more corrosive and aggressive attack, while the latter slows the pace into a crushing, chug-driven groove. Elsewhere, 'Down, Down, To Goblin Town' stands out as one of the EP's strongest cuts, blending grind, weight and memorable structure in a way that feels both hostile and strangely infectious.
A major part of the EP's impact comes through Seth Metoyer's vocal performance, which moves between intelligible force, harsh intensity and a more unstable edge that adds to the release's oppressive atmosphere. Rather than abandoning the band's core identity, Between Blood And Silence builds on it, stretching Mangled Carpenter's sound into more experimental and mood-driven territory without losing its aggression.
The EP also includes a cover of Mortification's 'Terminate Damnation', drawn from the band's landmark album Scrolls Of The Megilloth, along with 'Short, Sharp, Shock', a track whose title accurately reflects its blunt-force delivery.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Mangled Carpenter is an American death metal/grindcore band from Monterey, formed in 2005 by guitarist/vocalist Seth Metoyer and bassist Kristeffor “K.O.” Olson during their high school years. Blending crushing death metal brutality with chaotic grindcore aggression, the band has built a reputation for delivering intense, uncompromising extreme metal with thought-provoking lyrical themes centered around faith, mortality, human struggle, and spiritual conflict.
Musically, Mangled Carpenter draws inspiration from extreme metal acts such as Dying Fetus, Pig Destroyer, Cattle Decapitation, and Napalm Death, while also taking influence from Christian metal pioneers like Mortification and Vengeance Rising. Their sound combines pummeling blast beats, guttural vocals, groove-heavy riffing, and bursts of grindcore chaos, creating music that is both punishing and memorable.
After years of writing and refining their sound, the band released their debut full-length album, Under the Shadow, in 2021 through Hagah Recordings, a sub-label of Rottweiler Records. The album introduced listeners to their savage but technically sharp approach and gained attention within the underground Christian extreme metal scene.
In 2023, Mangled Carpenter returned with their second album, Salvation Syndrome, a heavier and more refined release that pushed their songwriting even further. The record tackled themes such as hypocrisy, repentance, compassion, and spiritual warfare, while maintaining relentless musical aggression. Guest appearances from members of Becoming the Archetype and Betrayal added extra depth to the album.
The current lineup consists of:
Seth Metoyer — guitars, vocals
Kristeffor “K.O.” Olson — bass, vocals
Mac Hine (“MACHINE”) — drums
Known for balancing unrelenting heaviness with strong conviction and lyrical purpose, Mangled Carpenter has become one of the most notable modern bands in the Christian death metal/deathgrind scene, appealing to fans of both brutal underground metal and spiritually driven extreme music. In 2026, they continued gaining momentum with new material, including a cover of “Terminate Damnation” ahead of their upcoming album Between Bloodshed and Silence.
