Icelandic black metal entity Mannveira has unleashed a new song off their upcoming new album, Vesöld.
Stream "Bölvunin" now below:
Vesöld is due out October 16 on digital, CD and vinyl (standard and gun metal gray variants) via Dark Descent Records.
Five years removed from the band’s debut full-length, Vítahringur, Mannveira emerges once more from Reykjavík’s black metal underground. Featuring seven new rituals culled from the primordial darkness, Vesöld offers no salvation.
Raw and dissonant at its core, the album twists abrasive black metal through moments of stark melody, creating a work that is as haunting as it is hostile.
Vesöld sees Mannveira achieve a balance of chaos and atmosphere, with a cold melodic undercurrent that shatters through the discord. Bleak and immediate, Vesöld marks a compelling return from the depths of Iceland’s black metal underground.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Mannveira is a black metal band from Reykjavík, Iceland, formed in 2010 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Illugi. Emerging from Iceland's distinctive underground metal scene, the band has developed a deeply oppressive and dissonant sound characterized by unsettling guitar arrangements, haunting atmospheres, tortured vocals, and an uncompromising exploration of humanity's darkest emotions.
Originally established as a solo project, Mannveira released its debut EP, *Von Er Eitur*, in March 2014. The three-track recording introduced the band's bleak musical identity, combining raw black metal aggression with suffocating atmospheres and themes of nihilism, depression, and psychological suffering.
As the project evolved into a full band, Mannveira became increasingly connected with Iceland's flourishing experimental black metal underground. In 2016, the group released a split recording with Ellorsith through Dark Descent Records, further developing its distinctive approach to dissonance, unsettling melodies, and emotionally devastating compositions.
After several years of relative silence, Mannveira returned with its debut full-length album, *Vítahringur*, released on July 2, 2021, through Dark Descent Records. Recorded between 2018 and 2019, the album featured five lengthy compositions built around hypnotic guitar passages, crushing rhythms, anguished vocals, and an overwhelming sense of despair. Its complex arrangements and suffocating atmosphere established Mannveira as a compelling presence within Iceland's underground black metal movement.
The band continued its musical evolution with its second full-length album, *Vesöld*, released in 2026 through Dark Descent Records. The recording marked another chapter in Mannveira's development, continuing the group's exploration of darkness, psychological turmoil, and uncompromising extreme metal.
Throughout its existence, Mannveira has maintained strong connections with Iceland's underground metal community, with members also associated with bands such as Naðra, Andavald, Altari, and Örmagna.
With its disturbing atmospheres, unconventional songwriting, and deeply personal approach to black metal, Mannveira remains a distinctive representative of Iceland's uncompromising extreme metal underground.
