An opening chapter in ORIGIN's musical journey and a prequel to the ORIGIN we know today. Such could be said about "Abiogenesis - A Coming Into Existence", the band's new anniversary album, set to be released on May 3rd worldwide via Agonia Records.
"Abiogenesis - A Coming Into Existence" was recorded and recreated from the original 1991-1996 era that preceded ORIGIN's official formation. The album features never-before released tracks, that laid foundations to one of America's top death metal purveyors. The tracks on "Abiogensis" were recreated to the best of his ability, by founding ORIGIN member & mastermind Paul Ryan, who recorded all instruments himself, between 2013 and 2018.
The twelve-track album includes eighth new (previously unreleased) tracks from the pre-ORIGIN period, spanning from the "Necrotomy" (1990-1991) to "Thee Abomination" (1992-1993) era of the band (the "Abiogenesis" part of the album). They're followed by a remastered version of ORIGIN's first ever EP from 1998 (and first ever death metal recording to use the "gravity blast" drumming technique) as a special bonus re-release for all ORIGIN fans & album collectors ("A Coming Into Existence" part). This EP was never available for worldwide release before.
Paul comments: "Over the years people have asked me how Origin just came to be as a band so ferocious virtually out of nowhere. This is a small summary of the Origins of Origin. Basically, I spent a lot of my youth at shows at the outhouse practicsng garage grinding, basement blasting & shed shredding anywhere I️ could, composing as what my father would call 'Infernal Racket' as I was very passionate about death metal. That's all I ever wanted to do. A lot of missed opportunities as we just couldn't put it together into making a album (some music was meant to be underground), so these tracks are some of my earliest creations from the Necrotomy (1990-1991) & Thee Abomination (1992-1993) period".
The "Abiogenesis" album was written between 1990 and 1993 and recorded between 2013 and 2018. David Nollac took care of the tracking at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco (Ca), with final mix and master done by long-time ORIGIN collaborator, Robert Rebeck. The latter remastered "A Coming Into Existence" bonus EP in 2018, for the needs of this release. The bonus EP was originally recorded and mixed at Mercy Studios in Lawrence (Kansas) by said Robert Rebeck, back in 1998. The "Abiogenesis" cover artwork features a photo of the "Pillars of Creation" from the new advanced Hubble space telescope.

BIOGRAPHY
Formed in Kansas (North America) in 1997, ORIGIN is one of the top, most intense and most brutal technical death metal forces to be reckoned with.
Since its inception, the group has charted thrice on the Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart (with "Antithesis", "Entity" and "Omnipresent") and emerged on countless highly-energetic shows across the world, includng both Americas, Asia and Australia. In 2007, ORIGIN reached Europe for the first time in career (on tour with Misery Index and Necrophagist) and five years later, in 2012, reclaimed The Old Continent together with Suffocation. In 2014, ORIGIN headed out on a new European tour with Aborted and Exhumed, and in 2016 returned with Marduk and Immolation.
2014 "Omnipresent" - the band's sixth installment - was the first new album released on Agonia Records. ORIGIN commented: "We are proud to be a part of the Agonia Records family! We feel that this is the strongest move on our quest for total omnipresence, and are excited to share our latest cut of sheer technical brutality throughout Europe and beyond. We are everywhere and nowhere. We are Origin. Hail Space."
Thus far operating as a trio, "Omnipresent" introduced Jason Keyser (Skinless) as band's new vocalist, who brought a new quality to the band. John Longstreth (drums): "We record albums in a somewhat masochistic, chaotic, and senseless fashion. It's our best trick, and we need the best guy for our best trick, so that's why we have Jason. He's had two years of hard road work with the band and we know he's the guy. For those that weren't aware, ORIGIN recorded "Entity" as a trio without a proper vocalist, so we are very excited to have Jason in to do what a proper vocalist is supposed to do".
For 20 years (1997 - 2017) ORIGIN has engaged a full-blown sensory assault of tight, taut, and technical death metal amplified by flashes of grindcore and groove. However, 2017’s "Unparalleled Universe" sees the quartet strengthen that blueprint with a handful of surprises:
"It feels like an Origin album, but it’s unparalleled to what you might expect if you haven’t heard us for 10 or 15 years" says Ryan. "To me, it’s a true reflection of ourselves. I compare it to an action movie. Our earlier material is filled with action from beginning to end. Now, the idea is to add a little more depth and dynamics. You could say there are some twists in the plot musically".
ORIGIN began compiling ideas for what would become "Unparalleled Universe" while touring in support of their 2014 sixth offering, "Omnipresent". Along the way, the record snatched their highest position on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, bowing in the Top 10. Meanwhile, it garnered acclaim from metal press and successful tours with everyone from Aborted and Exhumed to Immolation and Marduk over the last three years. They’ve also shined on the Summer Slaughter Tour in 2009 & 2014. On the road with Belphegor last year, the members debuted a skeleton of the first single from "Unparalleled Universe", "Accident and Error", in front of packed crowds.
"We would ask the audience to give us title ideas, but we could never discern what they were actually saying" laughs Ryan. "Riffs typically start on tour, and I keep them in my back pocket. That’s the way it is. Ultimately, Unparalleled Universe begins another era for Origin. In the end, we’re still writing death metal songs, but we’re adding new dimensions. We’re still Origin".
