Chilean melodic death metal band Projector have announced their second full-length album, Before the Last Light, due out August 28 via NB Extreme Recordings. Alongside the announcement, the band has released the album's first single, "Living Resources", now available on all major streaming platforms: https://ffm.to/qe05045
Official music video:
Formed in Santiago in 2008 by guitarist Rodrigo Bocaz, Projector have spent the years between albums refining their songwriting rather than rushing out new material. Their debut established the band's place within Chile's melodic death metal scene, while appearances alongside In Flames, Septicflesh, Obscura, and A Canorous Quintet helped introduce their music to audiences beyond South America.
Rather than reinventing its sound, Before the Last Light builds upon the melodic foundations of the band's earlier work while reflecting more than ten years of musical growth and experience. The result is an album that balances memorable melodies, aggressive riffing and modern production without losing the identity Projector has developed since its formation.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Projector is a Chilean melodic death metal band formed in Santiago in 2008. Since their inception, they have built a reputation as one of the country's most technically accomplished melodic death metal acts, combining the aggression of Scandinavian melodeath with modern groove influences, intricate guitar work, and memorable melodies.
After several years refining their sound on the Chilean underground circuit, the band released their debut full-length album, Between the Nature and Ego, in 2015. The record showcased Projector's ability to blend crushing riffs, soaring lead guitars, and dynamic songwriting while maintaining an intense and emotionally charged atmosphere. The album earned positive recognition within South America's metal scene and established the band as one of Chile's most promising melodic death metal exports.
Projector continued to strengthen its reputation through energetic live performances, sharing the stage with both national and international acts. Their polished musicianship and powerful stage presence have made them regular participants in major Chilean metal events, including support slots for internationally renowned bands such as In Flames and Obscura.
The band's lineup has evolved over the years, but guitarist Rodrigo "Ro" Bocaz has remained the driving force behind Projector since its formation. With vocalist Rodrigo "Rumba" Salazar joining in 2017, the group entered a new creative chapter that further refined their melodic yet aggressive sound. Their music balances technical precision with memorable songwriting, exploring themes of humanity, social decline, political corruption, and personal struggle.
In 2026, Projector reached a significant milestone by signing with NB Extreme Recordings, one of Chile's leading extreme metal labels. The partnership paved the way for the release of their long-awaited sophomore album, Before the Last Light, a ten-track effort featuring guest appearances from Cinthia Santibáñez (Crisálida) and Rodrigo Alpe (Recrucide). The album represents the band's most ambitious work to date, expanding upon their trademark blend of melodic death metal, technical musicianship, and modern production while reaffirming their place among the leading forces in contemporary Chilean metal.
Today, Projector continues to push the boundaries of Chilean melodic death metal, combining technical excellence, memorable melodies, and uncompromising heaviness. Their steady evolution, growing international recognition, and commitment to high-quality songwriting have positioned them as one of the standout acts in South America's modern extreme metal scene.
