Ripper is a Chilean death/thrash metal band formed in 2007 in Talagante, a city located in the Santiago Metropolitan Region of Chile. Emerging from the thriving South American extreme metal underground, the band quickly gained recognition for its ferocious blend of old-school death metal and aggressive thrash metal, drawing inspiration from legendary acts such as Kreator, Sepultura, Death, Slayer and Sadus.

Following the release of several demos and underground recordings, Ripper established a strong reputation within the international metal scene thanks to their relentless live performances and uncompromising sound. Their early material showcased a savage mixture of razor-sharp thrash riffs, death metal intensity, and dark lyrical themes centered around horror, death, violence, science fiction, and the supernatural.

In 2014, the band released its debut full-length album, Raising the Corpse, which received praise from underground metal fans for its raw energy and authentic old-school approach. The album helped introduce Ripper to a wider audience beyond South America and established them as one of Chile's most promising extreme metal acts.

Two years later, Ripper returned with Experiment of Existence (2016), a more refined and ambitious release that expanded upon the band's death/thrash foundation. The album earned critical acclaim within the underground scene and is often regarded as one of the strongest Chilean extreme metal releases of the decade.

The band continued to build momentum through international exposure, festival appearances, and additional releases, including the Sensory Stagnation EP and the Paranormal Waves demo. These recordings demonstrated a growing interest in darker atmospheres and science-fiction-inspired themes while maintaining the band's trademark aggression.

In 2023, Ripper released their third full-length album, Return to Death, further cementing their status as one of the leading forces in contemporary South American death/thrash metal. The album combined blistering speed, memorable songwriting, and a strong old-school spirit, receiving enthusiastic responses from fans and critics alike.

Today, Ripper is widely recognized as one of Chile's premier extreme metal bands, carrying forward the legacy of classic death and thrash metal while adding their own distinctive South American intensity. Their dedication to traditional extreme metal values, combined with strong musicianship and consistent releases, has earned them a loyal following across the global underground metal community.
