MOTÖRHEAD Aftershock
HotLemmy & co are still going strong 36 years after their self-titled debut saw the light of day. On ‘Aftershock’ which is their 21st studio album the band sounds more vital than they’ve done for ages and in my opinion you’ll have to go at least 20 years back in time to find an equally strong Motörhead release. Everything seems to have been taken back to basic this time around. It’s all about rock ‘n’ roll and it sounds just as dirty and nasty as you would expect, but still wrapped into an updated and organic production. ‘Lost Woman Blues’ and ‘Dust and Glass’ shows the bluesier side of Mötorhead and makes a fine contrast to the rest of the material which is more straight forward rock ‘n’ roll. I’ve heard Lemmy open shows by spitting out the following phrase; “Good evening, we are Motörhead, we play rock ‘n’ roll” – and I guess that sums up everything quite well.
