I have always considered Shakra as one of the most exciting and fresh sounding new bands within the melodic hard rock genre, so I guess it came as a bit of a shock to read that ‘Mad World’ marks their 25th anniversary as a band. Time flies for sure. Even though I still appreciate the early albums as their best I can honestly say that none of the later...

When it comes to classic hard rock British legends Thunder has always been a safe bet. Even though their 1990 debut 'Backstreet Symphony' is still considered to be their magnum opus all their later albums are solid quality as well. 'Rip it Up' is the eleventh studio album showing a band that sounds vital as ever and I absolutely love the guitar work Luke Morley and Ben Matthews has...

First of all this is not a new album, not even close, and we’re not talking a re-issue either but an album originally released back in 1983. These Bochum based Germans came together as a band in 1978, and managed to release two full length albums before they split-up sometimes during the eighties. ‘No Mercy’ didn’t receive too much attention around its release and I just accidently got aware...

German classic hard rock band Voodoo Circle, the brainchild of guitarist Alex Beyrodt, are back with their fourth studio album entitled ‘Whisky Fingers’. The guys seem to stick to the same formula used on their previous albums, and why shouldn’t they? This is classic, melodic hard rock heavily inspired by the great British names within the genre and most of all Whitesnake. David Redman does not only have a...

The last few years has been subject to health issues for Lemmy which has resulted in cancelled shows, but still he has found energy to create the 22nd Motörhead album. His voice may be slightly raspier than before, but apart from that this album represents everything a true Motörhead fan could possibly ask for. Ok, there are no songs reaching the standards of classics like ‘Ace of spades’, ‘Thunder...

Lemmy & co are still going strong 36 years after their self-titled debut saw the light of day. On ‘Aftershock’ which is their 21st studio album the band sounds more vital than they’ve done for ages and in my opinion you’ll have to go at least 20 years back in time to find an equally strong Motörhead release. Everything seems to have been taken back to basic this time...

Swiss hard rock veterans Krokus are back with what is their 17th studio album, as they can look back on a career reaching nearly fourty years back in time. On 'Dirty Dynamite' Krokus return with their original line up plus Mandy Meyers and the album also sees the band return to their roots musically. In the early stages of their career Krokus were often referred to as the little...

Årets styggeste cover? Uten tvil.
