KROSIS A Memoir Of Free Will

‘A Memoir Of Free Will’, the second full length album from North Carolina based Krosis, is quite a mouthful to consume and I had to give it a few spins before it really started to sink in. Their style is progressive deathcore and the musical skills of each bandmember is simply breathtaking. The album has a powerful and clear production with a well balanced low end allowing kick, bass, low tuned guitars and sub-drop effects their own space without sounding like a mess. While Intricate hard riffing guitars, bass and blistering drums makes the foundation of the songs, ambient synth arrangements adds a bombastic and at times symphonic feel to the material. The guys knows exactly when to slow things down a bit to give the listener a break with ambient, melodic passages. On the vocal side a mixture of deep death growls and screams are used in the typical manner for this genre. I have to give special credit to the guitarwork which despite the technical virtuosity is very tastefully and melodic arranged, and the same thing goes for the bass. All ten tracks on ‘A Memoir Of Free Will’ are solid quality, so check it out if technical deathcore is your cup of tea.
