This Swedish power metal/pirate metal band was formed in 2011 and have proved to be quite productive with three full length album releases previous to this new one. The band name Blazon Stone was taken from Running Wild’s 1991 album and that should give you more than a fair hint of what to expect if you don’t already know this band. Though my musical preferences have turned more and...

'Apoptosis' is fifth full-lenght album from Denver, Colorado based Allegaeon, and as all their previous albums this one is also released through Metal Blade Records. Guitarist Greg Burgess is the only remaining original member, but the sound is still unmistakeable Allegaeon and we're of course talking melodic technical death metal. The basis of the music is both technical and quite brutal, while orchestral/keyboard arrangements alongside beautiful guitar and bass lines...

SIMON...

'Straight Out Of Hell' is the 14th studio album from German power metal veterans HELLOWEEN, and the 9th with Andi Deris as lead singer. I must admid that I have never been totally convinced by any of the albums since Deris joined the band, he is definitely a great singer but he isn't and will never be nowhere near Michael Kiske....period! With that stated I must add that 'Straight...

Slayer are back with their first studio album without the late Jeff Hanneman, and there were of course excitement among the fans on how Slayer would sound without their riff maestro and main songwriter. Dave Lombardo is also out of the band, leaving the drumming duties to Paul Bostaph. To fill the enourmous shoes of Hanneman Exodus' main man Gary Holt has been hired in and though I don't...

'Anathema' is third full lenght album from Japanese technical/brutal death metal act Desecravity and like both it's predecessors it's beeing released through Willowtip records. The total runtime of this album is just above thirty minutes and even thogh I normally find that a bit to short it's actually quite a mouthful when it comes to this kind of music. I would probably file this one as technical death metal...

One of the first things I noticed about 'Deceiver Of The Gods', the ninth studio album of Swedish Melodic Death Metal veterans AMON AMARTH, was the more aggressive production that adds more of a live feeling to the sound than on their previous albums. At first I thought it sounded a bit chaotic, but after a few rounds the bits and pieces started to fall in place as the...
