Norwegian band Greyzone was founded around 2010 and has since then toured both Norway, Denmark and Spain. In early 2013 the band entered Sono Studios in Prague to record their debut album “Release The Madness” which has now been out for a few months. In their biography Greyzone describe their style as a cross between Metallica, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest with a touch of newer bands such as...
The Devils of Loudun, a symphonic and melodic death metal outfit from Seattle, Washington, step confidently into the spotlight with Escaping Eternity, their long‑awaited full‑length debut. Though the band previously issued a pair of EPs, this release marks their most ambitious and fully realized statement to date. The lineup includes members of the technical death metal group Aethereus, and that pedigree shows—though here, technicality is channeled through a far...
Boston based Scaphism are back to follow up their 2012 debut with a brand new effort entitled 'Unutterable Horrors'. Since then the band has been through several line-up changes, but now the new line-up has been completed and a deal has been inked with Horror Pain Gore Productions. Scaphism's music is basically riff based, old school death metal with a few hints of thrash. Straight forward, in-your-face death metal...
The masters of "humppa" metal are back with the successor to their acclaimed 2010 release 'Nifelvind'. 'Blodsvept' showes Finntroll from a sligtly rawer side and the production is a bit less polished than on the previous album. The "humppa" still plays a dominant role in the sound, but theres also some more atmospheric folk elements included so secure a good contrast to the otherwise raw and brutal expression that...
With their first official release Italian band The Burning Dogma offers something different to the death metal genre by incorporating elements of several different styles into their music. Keyboards are used to create a symphonic atmosphere while clean male and female vocal parts can be heard every now and then as a supplement to the death grunts. Some of the interlude sections contain electronic, industrial sounding effects, and even...
Leave´s Eyes has always been synonymous with quality and I like all their previous albums, but this time everything has really been taken to another level. ´Symphonies of the night´ seed all the best of the previous albums cuminating into a magnum opus, featuring a real orchestra, choir, uilean pipes, irish wistle, fiddle and dulcimer. On top of this comes Liv Kristine´s clear and soar sophrano vocals and...
