Genre defining death metal veterans Cannibal Corpse are finally back with their 14th studio album, and as always they have remained true to the formula that have been their trademark since the very beginning three decades ago. The one thing that really have changed to the better this time is the production. The allover sound is organic and fat, but yet crystal clear and the drums in particular sounds...

This Swedish power metal/pirate metal band was formed in 2011 and have proved to be quite productive with three full length album releases previous to this new one. The band name Blazon Stone was taken from Running Wild’s 1991 album and that should give you more than a fair hint of what to expect if you don’t already know this band. Though my musical preferences have turned more and...

The Outer Limits is a Bulgarian thrash metal band formed in 2008, but existed under another name from 1988-95. Their debut album ‘World Metal Domination’ saw the light of day in 2014, and now they are back with their brand new sophomore album entitled ‘Apocalypto’. This is straight forward, hard riffing thrash metal heavily inspired by the late 80’s bay area wave and bands like Testament, Exodus, Heaten, Forbidden,...

It's been seven long years since Communic released their last album, 'The Bottom Deep', so their new album has been anticipated by fans around the world for quite a while but now it's finally here. I still remember the day back in 2004 when Oddleif sent me a three track demo entitled 'Conspiracy In Mind', I was blown away by what I heard and predicted major metal labels to...

'Underneath A Melting Sky' is the fourth studio album in only five years from Bay Area based technical death metal act Inanimate Existence, so I guess you can say that they've been quite productive. I've been a fan of these guys since the beginning and all their albums have been solid quality, but still I rank their excellent debut 'Liberation Through Hearing' as the best of the three. So...

Our greek friends in Septicflesh are back with their 10th studioalbum, and as always it sounds unmistakeable Septicflesh although everything has been taken a step further this time. That goes for the orchestration in particular, and I'm almost tempted to define this as a death metal symphony rather than a symphonic death metal album. I'm sure most fans will love the sound of 'Codex Omega', but I guess some...

Dubai based technical death metal outfit Nervecell are back with their thrid studio album entitled 'Past, Present...Torture' to follow up their 2011 album 'Psychogenocide'. I really enjoyed both previous albums, and in particular the excellent debut 'Preaching Venom', so I've really anticipated this new one. The receipe is more or less the same as before technical, but yet in-your-face death metal that is both brutal and melodic with potential...

'Malina' is the fifth studio album from Norwegian prog rockers Leprous and it represents a slight change in direction musically comparred to their previous releases. The change is not too dramatic but I guss you can say the the song structures somehow appears to be simpler even though the music is still relatively complex if you see what I mean. 'Malina' is poppier than it's predecessors, more radio friendly...

The name Fleshkiller may not immediately ring a bell, but if i say that this is the new band of Extol guitarist and mastermind Ole Børud it should give you a fair idea of what this is all about. Alongside Børud Fleshkiller consists of Elisha Mullins (The Burial) on vocals and guitar, Ole Vistnes (Shining, Tristania) on bass and Andreas Skorpe Sjøen (Umpfel) on drums. 'Awaken' is a modern...

German band Apallic released an EP a couple of years ago, but this is their first full-length album. I've noticed that they are beeing promoted as a progressive/technical death metal band, but even though there are such elements in their music I tend more towards defining it as melodic death metal. The first thing that came to my mind when i first heard 'Of Fate And Sanity' was;...
